Brading – St Helens

Ride the branch line to the sea

2 miles

This route isn’t part of the Red Squirrel Trail, but also offers easy cycling through fantastic countryside.

Once a branch-line running between Brading and Bembridge this gravel track now offers an opportunity for level cycling alongside the RSPB’s Brading Marshes nature reserve. Most of this route is flat and traffic-free. At the St Helen’s end Carpenters Road involves a climb up the main road into the village, but there is a pavement alongside if you want to push up this short stretch instead. Parking is available  in the car park next to the church and Brading Station is near the start of the route.
